Government Connections

The area covered by Warmest Welcome, between Steeles, Lawrence, Bayview and Victoria Park, has a number of elected representatives, as the area crosses a number of electoral boundaries at different levels of government.

Your municipal representatives can assisting you with matters related to the following areas, but not limited to:

  • facilities owned and/or operated by the city of Toronto,
  • waste removal, and
  • snow removal.
A City Councillor is elected to represent the public and to consider the well-being and interests of the City.
North of the 401, Ward 33 is represented by: Shelley Carroll.
South of the 401, Ward 34 is represented by: Denzil Minnan-Wong.

Your provincial representatives can assist you in the following areas of government, but are not limited to:

  • the provision of fundamental social services (for example, health, education and welfare),
  • control over civil and property rights, and
  • power over local government.

North of Finch: Willowdale is represented by David Zimmer.

South of Finch: Don Valley East is represented by Michael Coteau.

East of Leslie: Don Valley West is represented by Kathleen Wynne.

Your federal representatives can assist you mainly in the following areas, but are not limited to:

  • Immigration cases, and
  • International affairs.
The federal government plays a role in such things as the provision of social services, the economy, national defence and security, criminal law, foreign affairs and First Nations policy. 

North of Finch: Willowdale is represented by Chungsen Leung.

South of Finch: Don Valley East is represented by Joe Daniel.

East of Leslie: Don Valley West is represented by John Carmichael.
